South Fulton High School Head Basketball Coach Curt Lee will look to senior guard Amber Lemon to set the stage, offensively for the 2018-2019 Lady Red Devils, and will expect more shooting from another senior, Erin McDaniel, both returning players, as they compete in a strong district which includes Greenfield, Dresden and Gleason.

The longtime Coach has high expectations for the team, in short, finish in the top four in the district and advance in tournament play.

The other senior on the team, Meleah Sturgeon, will return to this year’s roster, following an injury in the 2017-2018 season.

Lemon and McDaniel will be joined by sophomore Meleah Buchanan, a guard, another guard, junior Sophia McMinn and at center, junior Allison Murphy as the starting five as the season gets underway, with Coach Lee looking for “good minutes” off the bench from Murphy and Venise Quinn, a junior for rebounding, and Buchanan at point guard for some buckets.

“Strength” and power is expected from the defense, Lee said, to combat a strong district.

“I want Lemon and McDaniel to continue in their leadership roles, and others to step up. Both of them are returning players and they played the most last year,” he said.

The Lady Red Devils’ roster will also include freshmen Aaliyah McKnight, Kailey Mayo, Ca’Shayah McClerkin and Sophia Hodges.
