The Hickman County Falcons will be under new leadership for the 2018-19 season. When they take the floor Nov. 27 against Lake County, the Falcons will have only played two scrimmages with Coach Wynn Harris.

Harris said that he uses an eight to nine player system and that Devontae Alexander, JD McClanahan, and Jackson Midyett will be some of his key players.

The Falcons’ greatest assets are their strong passing ability, their heart, and how quickly they have picked up on Harris’ coaching system. Harris said, “They play hard for me and practice hard for me every time.”

Harris said that some challenges the Falcons face are that they have lost 60 percent of their offense from last year, and are a young team with a new system and a new coach. “My biggest concern is how fast it all seems together,” Harris said.

The Falcons’ goals for the season are to do very well in the All A division, to play in the 2-3 game in the district and to advance on to the regional tournament. The main goal for the Falcons is continuous improvement. “We just want to get better every game,” Harris said, “the rest will take care of itself.”

This will be the fifth program that Coach Harris has rebuilt. Harris said that it is hard to predict how quickly the team can be rebuilt. “Some are rebuilt quickly, while others take a while,” Harris said. Harris asked that fans be patient with the team early in the season. Harris continued, “We will get better.”
