UPDATE: U.S. 45/North Highland Drive Reopened at 1.1mm in Fulton at Railroad Underpass
Deck repairs to be scheduled
PADUCAH, Ky. (November 8, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has reopened a section of U.S. 45/North Highland Drive in the City of Fulton where a large pothole developed in the deck of a railroad Underpass.
The railroad underpass is along U.S. 45/North Highland Drive at mile point 1.1 mile point between Deere Street and College Street, about 3/10ths of a mile east of the KY 166 intersection.
This afternoon, the City of Fulton reported a large hole had developed in the bridge deck along the northbound lane. KYTC personnel have placed a steel plate over the hole and requested an inspector to check the underpass, allowing the bridge to reopen to traffic.
The KYTC District 1 Bridge Crew anticipates scheduling repairs sometime in next week.
The railroad underpass has seen an increase in traffic due to the closure of ramps at the Purchase Parkway/U.S. 51 Fulton Exit 1 Interchange. U.S. 51 southbound traffic seeking to reach the Purchase Parkway northbound has been detoured via U.S. 45 through Fulton to reach the KY 307 Fulton Exit 2 Interchange to access the parkway.
KYTC District 1 will provide timely notice when a start date is set for the repair effort.
