Lady Pilots 1-1 after Cairo, Lake Co. games

The Fulton County Lady Pilots were 1-1 in games played last week at home.

The Lady Pilots fell in their first game against Lake County, but rebounded to beat the Lady Pilots of Cairo on Friday night.

The Lady Falcons gave Fulton County little chance to compete in this game, as they eased to the 14-point win on the road.

Fulton County found themselves down 15-2 in the first quarter, as all of the starting five Lady Falcons got in the scoring column.

The Tennesseans held their ground in the second quarter, with the continued balanced scoring attack and 27-13 halftime lead.

A 13-6 Lake County scoring advantage in the third quarter gave the visitors a sizeable 40-19 lead, with the biggest lead of the game, 46-21, coming at the 4:37 mark of the fourth quarter.

Delaynee Cermak led Fulton County with 14 points, followed by Karlie William 8, Jamya Pierce 7, Savanna Roberts 3 and Alaya Barnett 2.

Aaliyah Swift was the leading scorer for Lake County with 13 points.

With the loss, the Lady Pilots dropped to 1-3 on the year.

The Lady Pilots turned a close first half into a big win at home, against the visiting Lady Pilots.

Fulton County held a narrow 8-7 lead after one quarter, and only a six point advantage, 22-16, at halftime.

But in the second half, coach Leonard Smith’s team used a 15-9 scoring edge in the third quarter to go on top 37-25.

It was the final quarter of play that sealed the big win, as Alaya Barnett erupted for 16 points to put Fulton County in front 60-31 with 1:52 to play.

Barnett led the Lady Pilots in the game with 29 points, followed by Delaynee Cermak 24, Karlie Williams 7, Savanna Roberts 5 and Callie Coulson 1.

With the win, the Lady Pilots improved to 2-3 on the season.
