District, Regional paths remain on Lady Devils’ radar

by Benita Fuzzell

Longtime South Fulton High School softball coach Curt Lee is no stranger to post season play, taking his Lady Red Devils to multiple District and Regional championships, as well as state tournament appearances.

That will remain his goal for the 2019 season, with a team strong on speed in the field and around the bases.

The Lady Devils will count on the hot bats of Marli Buchanan, Gracy Davidson, Amber Lemon and Erin McDaniel for an offensive push.

On the mound will be Annarose Larson, no stranger to that role, pitching to Davidson behind the plate.

Lemon, Buchanan and freshman Mary Pitts will also rotate in to pitch, Lee said.

Erin McDaniel will anchor first base, with Halle Gore at second, and Lemon on third base.

At short stop, Buchanan will rotate in when she isn’t pitching, and Kenna Sadler, Sophia McMinn and Allison Murphy will round out the defensive effort in the out field.

That defensive effort will depend on Lemon, Buchanan and Davidson, Lee said.

Lemon and Davidson will also be joined by McDaniel in the team’s leadership role.

LaStacia Courtney, Aaliyah McKnight, Dakota Irvan, Stacia Madding, Elizabeth Archie and Meleah Sturgeon round out the 2019 roster for the South Fulton Lady Red Devils.

Lee will be assisted this season by Assistant Coaches Ashley Martin and Kasie McClanahan, and Manager Jake Clapper.
