School aged children at South Fulton’s Southside Manor will no longer have to brave the elements when the school buses start up their routes for the 2019-2020 school year, with the addition of a covered bus stop at the entrance to the apartment complex. South Fulton citizens Sue Jackson and Lane Archie first approached the South Fulton City Commission regarding the idea, when Jackson noticed children standing in the rain at the entrance, on her way to work in South Fulton each morning. She and Archie explained they wanted to check with the city first, to be aware of any building codes or other regulations, before they took the project further. With the city’s blessing, Kyle McCord with Premier Portable Buildings of South Fulton was contacted, and in turn, Premier’s Robby Mulcahy built the structure which includes built-in benches for children to sit on while they wait. Ronnie Martin delivered the bus stop station last week. (Photo by Benita Fuzzell)
