Maurine M. Hickman, a resident of South Fulton, died Sept. 22 at the Diversicare of Martin, Tenn. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at the South Fulton Baptist Church, with Dr. Ron Cox officiating. Visitation will be held at the South Fulton Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, of Fulton, is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Leigh Capra, Karen Gatewood and Linda Capra, all of South Fulton; three sons, Mark (Kathaleen) Capra, of South Fulton, Richard Capra, of Nashville, Tenn., and Robert Capra of Martin; four grandchildren, Michael Capra, and Timothy (Chynethia) Capra, both of Nashville, Tenn., Gary (Katie) Gatewood, of St. John, Mich., and Mark Capra, of Schofield, Wisc.; and a sister, Sylvia Black of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Weaver and Altina Elliott Messick; her first husband, Donald John Capra; her second husband, Genie Joe Hickman; a son, Timothy Capra; and two sisters, Alene Hale and Irene Hickman.

Born July 6, 1930 in Decatur, Ill., she was a member of the South Fulton Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.

She was a Registered Nurse at the former Fulton Hospital, Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin, McKenzie Hospital and Milan General Hospital.

She received a Nursing Degree and a Psychology Degree from the University of Tennessee.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women of Martin, Civitan Club in Martin, Union City, Tenn., and Paris, Tenn.

She was also a member of the Family Community and Educators Organization of Weakley County, Tenn. and A.A.U.W of Martin, She taught Critical Care Courses at UTM.
