HYDRANT FLUSHING, TESTING UNDERWAY IN FULTON HYDRANT FLUSHING, TESTING UNDERWAY IN FULTON

According to a public notice issued by Fulton City Manager Mike Gunn Oct. 3, Fire hydrants will be flushed and tested throughout the city of Fulton this week, with crews to begin at the clear well of Mears Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., moving west until the CN Railroad yard. Then, from the clear well, moving east, until East Drive, with the final section west of the railroad yard, including Riceville. Estimated time for completion of all flushing and testing will be two to three weeks.

A temporary drop in water pressure could occur in residences and businesses, as well as possible rusty brown or cloudy water. Citizens should use caution when laundering white or light colored clothing. When hydrants are being flushed in neighborhoods, avoid using the dishwasher, washing machine, or faucets turned on.

After flushing is completed, open cold water faucets and let water flow until clear, then turn off faucets. Open hot water faucets and complete the same procedure. When hot and cold water are clear, water will be ready for regular use.
