Earlier in the week, South Fulton football coach Eric Knott called the Lake County Falcons “one of the best teams” he had seen in years.

On Thursday night, they lived up to all expectations.

Three plays into the game at South Fulton, the Falcons took an 8-0 lead, which then increased to 30-0 after one quarter, and 46-0 by halftime.

The Falcons then remained unbeaten at 7-0 with a 54-16 win.

“As good as advertised, if not better,” said Coach Knott after the game. “The thing is they do everything correctly. There is no plays off. They do everything properly to the fullest extent of their body. When your ability is that high, good things happen. It’s a testament to the kids and the coaching staff.”

In the first half, Senior quarterback Tanner Snyder controlled the Lake County offense.

Snyder put the first points on the scoreboard on a five-yard run, then threw touchdown passes of 53 yards to Malachi Taylor, 13 yards to James Wilson, and 12 and 15 yards to Cayden Puckett.

Running back Larry Tubbs also got in on the first half scoring for the Falcons with a nine-yard first quarter score.

Lake County’s only second half touchdown came in the fourth quarter, when Miguel Abbott rushed in from five-yards out.

The Red Devils broke into the scoring column in the third quarter, when Greg Davis crossed paydirt on a four-yard run.

This was followed by a one-yard bolt from Dylan Ransom at the 7:00 minute mark of the fourth quarter.

Mason Harper led the ground attack for South Fulton with 71-yards, followed by Greg Davis and Dylan Ransom each with 57, and Dalton Gray 45.

On the passing side, quarterback Bryce McFarland completed 3-of-6 passes for 24-yards.

The loss dropped South Fulton to 3-4 overall, and 0-3 in district play.

With three games remaining on the schedule, and hopes of still securing a playoff spot, Coach Knott said wins are needed to finish out the year.

“We have got to win all of them. This is the situation we have put ourselves in with the second have play against Greenfield, and terrible play calling we had at Dresden. So, now we have to dig ourselves out of this hole. The only way to do this is for everyone to do their job. That starts with me and goes all of the way down. I still see some good things happening. It’s going to take three wins to get in. We could get help from somewhere else, but what we need to do is to take care of what we do. Miracles do happen, but we just need to do what we can do and see how it plays out.”

The Red Devils will be on the road this week, as they travel down to play 0-6 Humboldt.
