Hickman City Commissioners met on Dec. 3, in a special called meeting with the hiring a SRO (School Resource Officer) being the only item on the agenda.

Hickman City Commissioners James Adams, Robert Griggs, Judy Powell and Mayor Heath Carlton convened their meeting at 5:03 p.m., and voted to hire Chad Parker as an employee of the Hickman City Police Department, following the recommendation of Hickman Chief of Police Tony Grogan.

“Congratulations Mr. Parker. We welcome you aboard and look forward to working with you and taking care of the kids. Fulton County School System was ahead of the curve, for most school systems. This will be mandatory in a couple of years and it is best to be ahead of the game,” Mayor Carlton said.

City Manager David Gallagher stated, “His starting day with be Dec. 9 and there are a few things to wrap up with in the next day or two. This gives him time to get with Tony and receive his equipment. Good choice.”

Parker stated, “I started my career with the City of Hickman in May of 1996.”

The Commission adjourned at 5:06 p.m.

Commissioner Rob Hitesman was not present.
