Wyonna Pruitt Brown, a resident of South Fulton, died Dec. 22 at Divericare of Martin. She was 96.

Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at 12 noon at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, in Fulton. Burial followed in the Obion County Memorial Garden. Visitation was held Dec. 28 from 10:30 until the hour of service at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel.

Hornbeak Funeral Chapel was in charge of the services.

She was survived by a niece, Linda Hall, of Louisville; and two nephews, Jerry Pounds, of Spring, Texas, and Dean Pounds, of South Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cayce Harrison Pounds and Ivie Cashion Pounds; her first husband, William Franklin Pruitt; her second husband, Walter B. Brown; her daughter, Betty Mikel; a sister, Deloma Bushart; and a brother, Charles William “Billie” Pounds.

Born Jan. 20, 1923 in Weakley County, Tenn., she was a member of the South Fulton Baptist Church.

She opened Pruitt Real Estate, Inc., where she and the late Martha Phelps were the first women to own and operate a real estate office. She was a Notary at Large and belonged to the Notary Association. Before opening her own business, she was the office manager for the Henry I. Siegel in South Fulton.
