Martha Ann Campbell, a resident of Hickman, died Jan. 22 at her residence. She was 73.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at Strong Funeral Home, in Hickman, with Rev. James Roberson officiating. Visitation was held from 12 noon until the hour of service. Strong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her son, Jeffery (Jill) Edwards, of Allen, Texas; two brothers, Larry “Bubba” (Lisa), of Katy, Texas, and David Moore, of Scott City, Mo.; a nephew, Arron Barnett, of Texas; and three grandchildren, Mary Katherine Edwards, Carter Edwards and Tom Edwards, all of Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt Barnett and the late Minnie (Cravens) Dunn.
Born June 8, 1946 in Hickman, she was Executive Director of the Hickman Chamber of Commerce and previously was Director of Community Development, Section 8 Housing. She was a member of the former Church of Christ in Hickman.

She always promoted Hickman and its heritage. Of her many accomplishments for Hickman three stand out as her favorites: the Carnegie Museum, putting up the Christmas decorations, and the beautiful Sea Wall Murals.

She took pride in each of these but her favorite was the Sea Wall Murals.
She had a vision for making downtown Hickman beautiful so she spearheaded the project with the Hickman Chamber of Commerce.

She contacted the Corp of Engineers for permission, pursued the support of the citizens of Hickman and former citizens of Hickman to sponsor a mural, found a wonderful artist to paint them and of course you could always find her at the sea wall helping in any way she could.
If her life had to be summed in one sentence it would be: She loved Hickman! She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Hickman Chamber of Commerce, 808 Moscow Ave., Hickman, Ky. 42050 for the perseverance of the Sea Wall Murals.
