Tennessee primary, general election results listed

Bill Lee won the Republican primary for Tennessee’s next Governor Aug. 2, to face off with Democrat Karl Dean in November, with Republican Marsha Blackburn advancing in the primary to face Democrat and former Governor Phil Bredesen in the U.S. Senate race.

In South Fulton, voters cast 385 votes for Republican gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd and 104 for Diane Black. Bill Lee came in third in South Fulton with 89 votes, Beth Harrell, 22, Basil Marceaux Sr. and Kay White received one vote each in Tennessee’s Aug. 2 state primary and general election.

Democrat Karl Dean received 88 votes, Craig Fitzhugh, 49 and Mezianne Vale Payne, 17 in South Fulton.

In the U.S. Senate race, South Fulton residents chose Republican Marsha Blackburn over Aaron L. Pettigrew, with 428 votes to 118 respectively.

Democrat Phil Bredesen won in South Fulton, over opponents Gary Davis and John Wolfe, receiving 138 votes in South Fulton, 20 votes and 11 votes, respectively.

In the U.S. House of Representatives 8th Congressional District, David Kustoff won out district wide, however George S. Finn edged out Kustoff in South Fulton, 260 votes, to 250 respectively, with Colleen Owens receiving 39 votes at the South Fulton Municipal Complex.

John Boatner received 75 votes, Erika Stotts Pearson received 74 votes for U.S. House of Representatives, 8th Congressional District.

For the Tennessee House of Representatives, 76th Representative District, Andy Holt retained his seat among South Fulton voters with 518 votes, to his opponent’s, Scott Fortner’s 73.

Deane Arganright garnered 143 votes in South Fulton.

Benny McGuire carried South Fulton voters with 457, to retain his post as Obion County Mayor, followed by John Glessner, 170 votes and Kevin Bowden, 156.

Ralph Puckett received 477 votes, Donnie Braswell, 472 and Andy Crocker, 363, to return to the Onion County Commission representing District 1, with John McMahan receiving 345 votes in South Fulton.

Tracey Ivey Westbrooks was unopposed in the race for Obion County Trustee, and received 688 votes at the South Fulton Municipal Complex.

Republican Karl Jackson was successful in his bid for Obion County Sheriff, with South Fulton voters casting 328 votes in his favor. Second was Independent Kent Greece with 214; followed by John Davis with 132, Kenny Craig with 101 and Darrell “Cut” Wayne Davis with 39 votes.

Harry Johnson and Crystal Gibson Crain were unopposed in the races for Obion County Circuit Court Clerk and County Clerk, respectively, with Johnson receiving 688 votes in South Fulton and Crain, 682.

In South Fulton, it was Cheryl Reddin, Republican, who beat out Shelly Treece Long, with 387 votes to her 319 votes, followed by Delilah Eaves, who received 78 votes.

Obion County voters, as a whole chose Boyd as their choice for Governor, Blackburn for U.S. Senate, Kustoff for U.S. House of Representative, 8th Congressional District, Holt for Tennessee House of Representative, 76th District, and Bill Sanders for Tennessee House of Representatives, 77th District.

County wide, McGuire took back his County Mayor’s position, with Jackson taking the most number of votes in Obion County for Sheriff, and Reddin, Register of Deeds.
