Obion County schools seek help from parents re:start of upcoming year

June 16, 2020

Obion County Schools is now seeking feedback from students’ parents and guardians, in regard to the return to school in August.

A survey for parents and guardians is accessible through a mobile device or computer, listed on the first screen of the school district website, www.ocboe.com. A link, COVID-19 Parent Survey - Returning to School, will also access the survey.

The survey and link will close Friday, June 19, at 8 p.m.

Questions on the survey include the number of children attending Obion County Schools in household; schools the students will be attending; whether the parent or guardian feels comfortable with the child returning to school on Aug. 4; if school year is disrupted, is there adequate internet service in the home for possible remote learning; if schools are closed at some point during the year, would online or remote learning be preferred or paper packets for students preferred.

Additionally, Obion County Schools’ students’ parents or guardians are reminded about the opt-in text message that was scheduled to be sent Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m., with parents or guardians and school system employees required to respond to the initial text with a Y or a Yes, so their number will be added to the message list.

Information is also available on the school system website and will be in addition to the all-call system, as both types of communication will be used during the upcoming school year.
