2018 Banana Festival kicks off with pageant

Fulton City High School will be the location for this year’s pageants, kicking off the 2018 Banana Festival in the Twin Cities of Fulton and South Fulton.

On Sept. 8, contestants may check in beginning at 12 noon.

Junior Miss contestants, ages 7-9 will be on stage at 1 p.m.; Pre-teen Miss contestants will take the stage at approximately 1:45 p.m., for ages 10-12; Teen Miss entries for young ladies ages 13-15 will be on stage at approximately 2:30 p.m., and Saturday’s categories will end with the Miss Banana Festival pageant for ages 16-19 at approximately 3 p.m. on stage.

On Sept. 9, the pageants will resume in the same location, with check-in at 12 noon.

Baby Miss contestants for ages birth to 12 months will take the stage at 1 p.m.; ages 13-23 months in the Mini Miss division will be on stage at approximately 1:30; Tiny Miss contestants for ages 2-3 will be on stage at approximately 2 p.m. and Little Miss, for ages 4-6 will conclude the day’s pageants, on stage at approximately 2:45 p.m.

The entry fee is $25 for the beauty competition and $5 additional for the best dress competition.

Queens in each category will receive a trophy, embroidered sash and crown. Three runners up in each age division will receive a trophy and sash. All participants will receive an award and all Queens must participate in the Banana Festival Grand Parade, on the Banana Festival float, Sept. 15.

Admission into the pageant is $2 per person at the door, with children age three and under admitted free.

Door registrations will be accepted, however, registration forms, as well as “ALL ABOUT ME” forms may be obtained on the Banana Festival website, www.theBananaFestival.com, or at the Fulton Tourism Commission office inside the Fulton City Hall.
