Lady Pilots set to ‘re-load’
The Fulton County High School Volleyball season is underway for Coach Merry Williams and her team.
“All of our starters from last year graduated so we have had to fill all starting positions,” stated Williams.
Karlie Williams is the lone senior and the team will be looking to her to lead them and counting on her to do a lot on the court, Williams said.
Mia Amberg, a sophomore, is also someone the coach is putting a heavy burden on this year to serve as the starting setter.
The team will also rely on several players to step up this year including Grace Elder, Cailey Prehoda, Madison Emmons, Annya Freeman and Brooklyn Chambers.
“Our team has nine new players, including three eighth graders that have been doing a great job for us in our Junior Varsity games. I believe we have a lot of talent, we are just going to have to learn how to play together and be aggressive,” said Williams.
The greatest challenge the team has is they only have seven returning players who haven’t had any varsity experience and being small in height is going to be a challenge for them.
Williams said, “Our goal for the season is to take one game at a time, gain some confidence along the way, and be competitive.”
