SF Devils defeat OC Rebels, Greenfield ‘Jackets

After numerous cancellations due to COVID-19, the Lady Red Devils were finally able to travel across the county to Obion County Central Dec.15. The Lady Red Devils came up short with a 51-38 final score. The Red Devils defeated the Rebels 50-46.

The Red Devils also traveled to Yellowjacket territory in Greenfield, Tenn. to begin their Christmas break Dec. 21. The Lady Red Devils couldn’t find enough points to defeat the Lady Jackets with a 79-47 final score.

Cashaya McClerkin and Anna Gore both started the Lady Red Devils scoring three points each for the Lady Red Devils’ six points during the first quarter.

Aubree Gore kept the points rolling in the second half hitting two field goals for her four points of the Lady Red Devils’ six points. After an entire half of action, the Lady Red Devils were trailing by nine points 12-21.

The Lady Red Devils stepped into high gear after half time scoring 20 points in the third quarter cutting the lead down to four points, 36-32.

After another nail-biting game, the Red Devils came out on top of a four-point nightcap. The Red Devils gained the lead in the first quarter and never let go with the Rebels trailing shortly behind. After a quarter of basketball, the Red Devils were up 14-10, but the Rebels fought back hard in the second quarter cutting the lead down to a two-point lead 26-24. After halftime the Red Devils scored 15 points creating an eight-point lead and finished the game on top with a four-point lead 50-46.

Rider Whitehead and Bryce McFarland paved the way to a victory each scoring a game high of 17 points.

Whitehead started the game strong hitting three field goals and a free throw in the first quarter for seven of his 17 points.

Brock Brown hit five of his seven points in the second quarter. Brown had two field goals and a free throw.

McFarland added ten of his points during the third quarter. McFarland hit three field goals, a three-point basket, and a free throw for his ten points.

Whitehead finished the game scoring all eight points during the fourth quarter, from three field goals and two free throws.

Greenfield 79

The Lady Red Devils took control early in the game leading the Lady Jackets 13-11 after the first quarter, but the Lady Jackets fought back to take the lead 37-20 before half time. The Lady Jackets maintained control while increasing the lead to 56-37 after the third quarter and finishing the game 79-47.

Kailey Mayo started the game with five of her game high 15 points in first quarter after hitting a three-point basket and a field goal.

Anna Gore hit a three in the second quarter to score three of her 10 points. After half time Anna Gore scored seven more points during the third quarter.

Kailey Mayo scored eight of the ten points scored in the final quarter hitting four free throws and two field goals.​

The Red Devils grabbed the lead early in the first quarter scoring 17 points to the Jackets 16. The Red Devils were tied at 28 going into half time and was down by five at the end of the third quarter, 34-39. The Red Devils scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to finish on top of the Jackets with 57 points.

Brock Brown helped pave the way for the Red Devils with a game high of 21 points, 12 of which came from the free throw line. Brown hit 100% of his free throws and had three field goals and one three-point basket.

Rider Whitehead came out in the second quarter hitting two field goals and two free throws for six of his 12 points.

The Red Devils only scored six points during the third quarter where Rider Whitehead, Brock Brown, and Drew Barclay each had two points.

Brown and Whitehead finished the game strong contributing eight points a piece of the Devils 23-point run.
