Jerry Hawks, a resident of Fulton, died Jan. 3 at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital in Martin, Tenn. He was 87.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Obion County Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the hour of service. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, of Fulton, is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his son, Mike (Melanie) Hawks, of South Fulton; two grandsons, Corbin (Chelsey) Hawks, of Paducah, and Harrison Hawks, of South Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lillian Harrison Hawks; and a sister, Jane Thompson.

Born July 19, 1933 in Fulton County, he was a past member of Walnut Grove Church and a current member of Fulton First United Methodist Church.

He was a graduate of Fulton City High School and a conductor for the former Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 40 years.

He was a member of Roberts Lodge in Fulton.

He and his wife, Shirley, loved watching their grandsons as they played sports and have grown into young professionals and business men. He was also a United States Army veteran.
