Devils defeat Falcons; UC teams beat SFHS

The Lady Red Devils fell short Jan. 12 as they traveled to Union City, Tenn. to take on the Lady Golden Tornadoes. The Lady Red Devils finished the game with 38 points to the Lady Golden Tornadoes’ 57.

Kailey Mayo had two field goals in the first quarter for the Lady Red Devils four points in during the first quarter. Mayo had a total of eight points throughout the game, finishing the fourth quarter with four points.

Anna Gore had eight of her game high 10 points in the second quarter. Gore hit a shot from behind the arc, had two field goals, and hit a shot from the free throw line.

After half time the Lady Red Devils had two points. Abbi McFarland hit a field goal for the Lady Red Devils.

CaShaya McClerkin hit two threes to finish off the Lady Red Devils for six of her eight game points.

The Lady Red Devils had eight trips to the free throw line where they hit seven of their points. The Lady Red Devils were 88% from the free throw line

Union City 55

The Red Devils couldn’t find a way to come out on top after battling with the Golden Tornadoes. The Red Devils finished the game 11 points behind the Golden Tornadoes, 44-55.

Drew Barclay and Bryce McFarland both hit a three-point basket in the first quarter for six of the Red Devils’ points.

Brock Brown hit two field goals and both of his free throws in the second quarter for six of his game high 20 points.

Beau Britt and Rider Whitehead each added three points after half time. Whitehead hit a three-point basket while Britt hit a field goal and a free throw.

Brown had an additional eight points in the fourth quarter from two field goals and hitting four of his six free throws.

The Lady Red Devils jumped ahead in the first quarter leading the Lady Falcons 17-8. The Lady Red Devils continued fight in the second quarter and finished the second quarter two points behind of the Lady Falcons 31-33. The Lady Red Devils cut the lead down to a one-point lead in the third quarter to bring the score to 47-48. At the end of the fourth quarter the Lady Red Devils were tied with the Lady Falcons sending the game into overtime where the Lady Red Devils finished four points behind the Lady Falcons 64-68.

Lake County 44

The Red Devils tied up with the Falcons during the entire first half to bring the score to 11-11 at the end of the first quarter and 19-19 at the end of the second. After half time the Red Devils jumped out in front scoring 14 points to make the score 33-24. The Red Devils didn’t let up during the fourth quarter to bring the final score 52-44.
