Wood to coach at Cumberland

Fulton native and Fulton High School graduate E.J. Wood, who has spent the past 13 years at Watertown High School where he taught Biology and served as the High School Baseball Coach, will remain with the Wilson County School System as the county-wide science instructor for the Tennessee Virtual Online School, however he will step into a new role as well, as he will begin coaching duties at Cumberland University of Lebanon, Tenn., leading the Junior Varsity Baseball program.

Wood, 36, has already begun some recruiting duties in the area, competed against the Cumberland University team, when he himself was a collegiate football and baseball player for Lambuth of Jackson, Tenn. in the early 2000s.

Head Coach Woody Hunt said “I knew he was available. He will be very good with people, a good teacher of the game. I’ve known him for a while, we go o church together and I can trust him. Everything I was looking for.”

Wood is the son of Joanie Cavaness of South Fulton, Gwin and Martha Kaye Wood of Fulton.

He is married to the former Grace Moss and they have two children.
