‘Columbus Pride’ group benefits from car show

Robin Hutson told the Columbus City council Sept. 17 that the 2nd Annual River Rats Motor Mafia Rumble On The River Car Show held Sept. 15 at Columbus-Belmont State Park had 35 entries from five states.
Best in Show and slickest paint job was awarded to a 1940 Ford truck.

Reserved Best Show and the Larry Golden Memorial award were presented to a 1969 Camaro. The Mayor’s Pick award went to a rare Pontiac Tempest.

Hutson gave a special thanks to Mayor Kay Ferguson, council member Kim Ferguson and all the park staff for their help during the car show.

Hutson presented the council with a $1,000 donation from proceeds of the car show to the Columbus Pride Community Fund to go toward the clock restoration.

Present at the meeting were Mayor Kay Ferguson, City Attorney Mary Potter, City Clerk Melissa Griffith, council members Kim Ferguson, Sabrina Hammock, Sue Jones, and Christina Thomas. Visitors present were Jeff Jones, Charles Ruby, Robin Hutson, and Betty Peeler.
