TOBACCO FREE ENVIRONMENT – Marketing class students at
South Fulton High School, above, taught by Kandace Jackson, used
surveys and gathered data regarding the effects of second hand
smoke, as well as tobacco usage, and prepared a proposal to develop
a strategy to “self-police” visitors to county parks and refrain from
smoking. The group presented their proposal to Obion County officials
in March and offered to provide signage to curb smoking at each park,
with help from Obion County Health Department and the Obion County
Prevention Coalition. Pictured are students Kaitlyn Reason, Annalise
Bind, Nick Kopriva, Harrison Wells, Keshawn Murphy, Jalen Scott, Justin
Wade, and David Madding, South Fulton Mayor David Lamb, South
Fulton High School teacher Kandace Jackson, and Carla Aaron. One
of three signs the Marketing class at South Fulton High School provided
for Unity Park to encourage visitors to keep the park tobacco free
and clean is pictured at right. (Photos by Barbara Atwill).
