SFFD offers smoke detectors

The South Fulton Fire Department, with assistance from the Tennessee State Fire Marshall’s Office, is not offering South Fulton residents free smoke detectors.

According to SFFD Captain Kenneth Walker, citizens of South Fulton may contact the Fire Department between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 731-479-0213, to arrange an installation appointment. Appointments may be scheduled at a residence throughout the week, Sunday through Saturday, for citizens’ convenience, but appointments must be scheduled prior to installation.

According to Captain Walker, approximately 20 smoke detectors have already been installed.

The smoke detectors are made available through “Get Alarmed TN”, a grant funded fire safety education and smoke alarm installation program, administered by the State Fire Marshall’s Office, and launched in November 2012.

The program distributes smoke alarms to participating fire departments, such as South Fulton Fire Department, with over 185,000 smoke alarms already distributed state wide, and 520 Tennessee Fire Departments participating.
