AREA OBITUARIES -- Alice Merryman

Ms. Alice Merryman, 94, of Hickman, Ky., passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Alice was born on December 21, 1927 in Covington, Tenn., to the late William Oliver and Lola (Smith) Locke. She retired as a machine operator for Brown Shoe Company. Alice was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the East Baptist Church in Hickman, Ky.

She is survived by a son R.D. James of New Madrid, Mo.; sister, Edith Dego of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Jessica (Jonathan) Chapin of Houston, Texas, Riley James of New Madrid, Mo., Justin Lynn James of Alaska, Daniel Denson of Union City, Tenn.; and a great-granddaughter, Haleigh Chapin of Houston, Texas.

In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Merryman; son, Terry James; daughter, Donna Antonites; brother, Winford Locke; sisters, Catherine Stewart and Dorothy Faye Hall; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth James.

A graveside service for Ms. Alice Merryman will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Obion County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Mark Lambert officiating. Burial will follow.

Family and friends are asked to gather at the Obion County Memorial Gardens prior to service time on Friday, September 16, 2022.
