DECADES OF DAIRY – The announcement was made May 1 that Prairie Farms plant in
Fulton would close as of June 30, as 52 positions would be eliminated. According to the
plant manager, 12 positions would remain there at the East 4th Street location, above,
as the facility would be used as a distribution operation. The once thriving dairy industry
located there as Turner Dairy was a prominent supporter of the Banana Festival for
many years, supplying ingredients as well as a fl oat in the festival parade, to transport
the famous one-ton banana pudding, as seen in the photo at right, from the newspaper
