Four Rivers Career Academy in Hickman hosted a Welding Fabrication competition Feb. 22 in Hickman. Teams from Mayfield Area Technology Center, Paducah Area Technology Center and Four Rivers Career Academy competed.

Paducah ATC’s team won the competition, the team from Four Rivers received second place, and Mayfield ATC finished in third place.

Competing for Four Rivers were Johnathan Etherton, Sam Armbruster, and Rob Simpson, all from Hickman County High School.

Their project was welding a vehicle luggage rack.

“This is actually the third year since we started back with the metal fabrication class. My first year hired in I noticed the competition was on the skill sheet and I asked the guys if we were not doing this and they responded they hadn’t in a couple of years. I thought I would like to get it going again,” said Will Greer, welding instructor at Four River Career Academy.

The location for the competition usually rotated, the first year at Murray Area Technology, and last year at Paducah Area Technology.

Next year, if Marshall County participates, the competition could be held there.

Hickman County native, Brandon Wilber, is the welding instructor at the Paducah ATC.
