Work Zone Lane & 11 Ft. Load Width Restriction on KY 97 in Southeastern Graves County starts Monday, March 27

Restriction for bridge deck overlay and maintenance

PADUCAH, Ky. (March 23, 2023) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a work zone lane and load width restriction on KY 97 in the southeastern corner of Graves County starting Monday, March 27, 2023.

KY 97 will be restricted to one-lane at mile point 0.97 to allow deck overlay and maintenance work on the Terrapin Branch Bridge. This work zone will include an 11 ft. maximum load width.

The Terrapin Branch Bridge is along KY 97, slightly less than a mile north of the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line. KY 97 connects to TN Rte 69 at the state line.

Trucks hauling loads wider than the 11 ft. load width restriction should seek an alternate route via an approved state highway. Passenger vehicles may self-detour via KY 1270, KY 895, and KY 94.

This work zone lane restriction will be in place around the clock. Motorists should be prepared to encounter one-lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal. Some minor delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.

Harper Contracting is the prime contractor on this group bridge deck maintenance project. The target completion date on the KY 97 Terrapin Branch Bridge is April 28, 2023.

Two additional bridges that are part of the contract will be scheduled at a later date.
