Pilots sweep Bulldogs

The Fulton County Pilots had a busy week of action, with two doubleheaders against division rivals and a match-up with a neighborhood from across the Tennessee border. The Pilots were able to pick up three wins, improving their overall record to 5-8 and 3-3 in First District competition.

Fulton Co. 15

Fulton City 0

The Pilots only had five hits on 13 at-bats, but were able to score 15 runs and shut out their division rivals in the first game of a doubleheader April 24 at home.

Luke Jackson led the Pilots with two doubles, Preston Smith had one double, and Max Gibbs and James Parker each had one single.

Parker and Braxton Bridges each had two RBIs.

The Pilots were successful on 17 of their 18 stolen base attempts.

Parker pitched a complete game for the Pilots, throwing 61 pitches in three innings and striking out seven Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs used a quartet of pitchers, with TaZiyah Ware started on the mound, throwing 40 pitches in one inning and striking out one Pilot. He was relieved by Jamarion Jackson, who threw 31 pitches in one inning of action; Shane Acosta, who threw 20 pitches in one innong of action and struck out one Pilot; and Danny Gilliland, who threw four pitches.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Pilots tallied 14 hits on 23 at-bats, as Luke Jackson had two doubles and one single, and Preston Smith had one double. Parker and Bridges each recorded three singles, while Vincent Scott, Gibbs, Benjamin Gilkey, Preston Smith and Austin Todd each had a single.

The Pilots recorded 10 RBIs, with Parker leading the team with three, while Logan Griffiths, Bridges, and Jackson each had two RBIs, and Scott had one.

The Pilots were successful on all 11 of their stolen base attempts.

Max Gibbs pitched a complete game for the Pilots, throwing 51 pitches in three innings and striking out seven Bulldog batters.

For the Bulldogs, Keon Thomas was successful on a stolen base attempt, while Tristan Lalley also picthed a complete game, throwing 81 pitches and striking out one Pilot.

The Red Devils only game up one hit during the Pilots 17 at-bat attempts April 20, as Max Gibbs recorded the lone hit.

The Pilots were successful on one of their stolen base attempts, as Keaton Goodson stole one base.

Gibbs pitched a complete game, throwing 114 pitches in four innings and striking out six batters.

The pitching and defense of the Comets was too much for the Pilots to overcome in the first game of their doubleheader April 18, as the Comets allowed only three hits and two runs allowed on 20 at-bat attempts by the Pilots.

Braxton Bridges led the Pilots with one hit and one RBI, and Luke Jackson and Preston Smith each had one hit.

The Pilots used a trio of pitchers in an attempt to cool off the Comets’ batters, with James Parker earning the starting nod and throwing 48 pitches in 2 1/3 innings of action, striking out three batters. He was relieved by Bridges, who threw 30 pitches in 1 2/3 innings and struck out one batter, and Max Gibbs, who threw 48 pitches in 1 2/3 innings and struck out four batters.

The Pilots were blanked by the Falcons in the second game of their doubleheader, going hitless in 15 at-bats.

Preston Smith pitched a complete game for the Pilots, throwing 98 pitches in five innings and striking out two batters.

The Pilots picked up their second win of the season April 12, as they recorded six hits on 21 at-bats, with Luke Jackson leading the way with two, and James Parker, Preston Smith, Max Gibbs and Braxton Bridges each having one hit.

Jackson also had a team-high three RBIs, and Gibbs tallied two RBIs, and Parker and Bridges each recorded one RBI each.

The Pilots were a perfect 12-of-12 on stolen base attempts, as Parker, Javen Kimmons and Vincent Scott each had three, Logan Griffiths had two, and Gibbs had one.

Gibbs started on the mound for the Pilots, throwing 85 pitches in 3 2/3 innings, and striking out six batters. He was relieved by Smith, who threw 18 pitches in 1 1/3 innings, striking out three batters.
