BRIDGE ISSUE IN FULTON RESULTS IN STREET CLOSURE

KY 129/East State Line Road Closed Immediately East of Cleveland Ave in Fulton Due to Bridge Issue
Bridge to remain closed until further notice
PADUCAH, Ky. (June 8, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has closed a section of KY 129/East State Line Road in the City of Fulton.
KY 129/East State Line Road is closed at mile point 0.65 after a contract inspection team reported a number of structural issues with a bridge over an unnamed tributary to Harris Fork Creek. This closure is along KY 129/East State Line Road immediately east of the Cleveland Avenue intersection.
The inspection team found a tie rod on the box beam bridge had failed, causing beams to move and flex when trucks cross the structure.
The bridge was closed and barricaded Thursday, June 8. KYTC District 1 engineers will examine the bridge in detail over the next week to determine if it can be repaired or should be replaced.
The bridge will remain closed to traffic until further notice. There is no marked detour. Trucks will require about a 5-mile detour to follow an approved state route.
KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates once the bridge is reviewed and a repair or replacement plan developed.
