Free child safety seat event scheduled in Fulton Thursday; car seat inspection, instruction provided

Those with children or grandchildren who use car seats will benefit from an event scheduled for this Thursday in Fulton, where instruction will be provided for the correct way to install a child safety seat, as well as making sure children are using the correct size care seat for travel.

A Car Seat Check Up event is set for July 13 at Fulton’s Pontotoc Community Center, 100 West State Line St., downtown Fulton, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., free and open to the public.

Those in attendance may have child safety seats inspected by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Caregivers of children who use care safety seats will also be directed on the correct method to use when installing a seat, how to properly harness and buckle up children when they are in the child safety seat.

The event is a cooperative effort between the City of Fulton, the Fulton Police Department, the Fulton County Dispatch, the Ken-Tenn EMS, City of South Fulton Police Department, South Fulton Fire and Rescue and Marshall County Health Department.
Following a course completed this week, certified technicians will conduct the safety check, as part of their certification and will be on staff from Fulton Police Department, Fulton Fire Department, South Fulton Police Department, South Fulton Fire Department, Ken-Tenn EMS, Fulton County Dispatch, and Hickman County Schools.
