MOTORISTS ALERTED TO WATER OVER ROADWAYS, POWER OUTAGE UPDATE FROM GIBSON ELECTRIC

Gibson Electric Membership Corporation continues to receive new reports of outages this morning. Currently, we have 2,217 members' homes and businesses without power and 23 total outages. The outages are scattered from north Madison County, Tennessee to north Carlisle County, Kentucky. Our crews, along with those from Service Electric, are working to restore power to everyone as quickly as they safely can.
Members can track our outages at http://outagemap.gibsonemc.com or through the Gibson EMC app. If you are without power, but your outage is not showing on Gibson EMC’s Outage Map, you should report it. It is best and easiest to report using Gibson EMC’s free app. Just download it through the Apple App Store or Android Market. You also can report an outage by calling Gibson EMC’s Outage Hotline at 1-800-977-4076. If you call the automated system, please only leave a message if you need to report a downed line, broken pole or other damage.
If you are without power, please check your meter base and riser for damage. If either has been damaged, you should call an electrician to make repairs. Repairs must be completed before Gibson EMC can restore your service.

KY Highway Water Over Road Report for District 1
UPDATE at 9:45 a.m. for various counties
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 19, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is requesting motorists avoid travel due to widespread flash flooding from heavy overnight rainfall. Radar indicates bands of heavy rain continue to roll across the region creating additional flash flooding issues.
At this hour we have the following to report:
Ballard County
U.S. 62 is CLOSED at the 0 to 1mm near the Ballard-Carlisle County Line at Lovelaceville
U.S. 62 is CLOSED in Lovelaceville due to a flooded out car blocking the roadway
KY 802 is CLOSED at the 6.7mm due to a cross drain washout
Water is over roadways all over the county - Caution Required
Calloway County
KY 94 West has Water Over Road signs posted near the 2.8mm in Lynn Grove

Carlisle County
KY 80 is CLOSED at the 2.8mm in the West End area of Arlington just west of the U.S. 51 intersection - Signs Posted
KY 307 is CLOSED near the 8mm between KY 121 and U.S. 62
KY 307 is CLOSED at the 1mm near the Carlisle-HIckman County Line
U.S. 62 is CLOSED at the 4 to 5mm in West Fork Creek Bottoms west of KY 121 - Signs and barricades posted
U.S 62 has Water Over Road signs posted near the 9mm at the KY 307 intersection east of Cunningham
Graves County
Interstate 69 has water on the passing lane at numerous locations - KYTC personnel are attempting to get to those locations to alert motorists
KY 58 is CLOSED near the 1mm just east of the Hickman-Graves County Line near the KY 1283 intersection
KY 1283 is CLOSED at the 3.2mm at the KY 58 intersection
U.S. 45 has Water the Over Road at several spots in the Wingo and Pryorsburg area
Numerous trees are reported down in the Sedalia area

KY 307 is CLOSED at the 14 to 16mm in the Onion Creek Area south of Beulah and the KY 1748 intersection
Marshall County
KY 2595/Lakeview Church Rd is CLOSED at the 3 to 4mm in the Cypress Creek area - Signs Posted
KY 1949/Wadesboro Rd is CLOSED at the I-69 Tunnel
McCracken County
U.S. 60/Beltline Hwy is CLOSED at the 14.3mm at the KY 994/Old Mayfield Rd intersection
U.S. 45/H.C. Mathis Drive is CLOSED in the Cardinal Point area of Paducah
U.S. 45/Jackson Street is CLOSED at the RR Viaduct in Paducah
There are numerous areas in Paducah where water is up to the headlights on cars and streets are blocked by flooded cars - Please avoid travel
KY 994/Old Mayfield Road is CLOSED at 5.5 to 5.7mm at the KY 1410/Houser Road intersection
KY 1410/Houser Road is CLOSED near Champion Creek from 3.2 to 3.7mm near the KY 994/Old Mayfield Road intersection
KY 1954/Husbands Rd is CLOSED at the 2mm in the S-Curve at the KY 999/Krebs Station Rd Intersection
Additional roadways are closed that crews have not been able to reach.
Again, please avoid travel.
Many area emergency management agencies, rescue squads, fire departments, and law enforcement agencies have also been out assisting traffic at various locations and removing downed trees. They have also rescued motorists from flooded vehicles at various locations.
Due to flooded intersections, traffic signals are out of service or in flashing mode at many locations. Please treat a signal outage or flashing signal as a 4-Way Stop and use caution.
KYTC District 1 crews are reporting areas with up to 10 inches of rainfall overnight and it is still raining. This has created extremely hazardous driving conditions. Please avoid travel.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Emergency for parts of the area - indicating that residents should seek high ground and be aware of that floodwaters may rise quickly. There is flooding in many areas that have not flooded in the past.
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Marshal County until1 p.m., CDT.
