AREA OBITUARIES -- LAMAR B. "SONNY" STARNES

Mr. Lamar B. "Sonny" Starnes, age 83, of Hickman, Ky. passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on December 11, 1940 in Hornsby, Tenn., to the late Johnnie Lamar Starnes and Lois Etna Baker Black.

Sonny was a member of the Davids Chapel Baptist Church and was a Mason in the Union City Lodge 538. He was a retired supervisor for General Motors and loved helping others, his family and making people laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Fay Busby Starnes, to whom he was married January 30, 1965, two daughters: Linda Fay Starnes Peters of Imperial, Missouri and Brenda Kay Starnes Johnson of Hickman, Ky., his grandchildren: Elizabeth (Chris) Ford of Bowling Green, Ky., Brittinnie (Cody) Shepherd of Bowing Green, Ky., Amanda Peters of Imperial, Missouri, Melissa Milam of Hickman, Ky., Melannie (Zack) Milam of Hickman, Ky.

and Ray Johnson of Staples, Minn., his great-grandchildren: Regan Worley of Union City, Tenn., Bentley Milam, Lillith Kuikendoll, Addilynn Crider and Zachary Crider all of Hickman, Ky. and Ray Johnson, Jr. of Tennessee and a brother, Dale Robertson of Austin, Texas.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Armour.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Crider, Aaron Pugh, Jeff Johnson, Cody Shepherd, Chris Parker and Wayne Busby.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel-Hickman (903 Broadway Street, Hickman, Ky.) with burial to follow in the Hickman City Cemetery. Visitation will be held

at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel-Hickman from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 and after 9 a.m. Friday, December 29, until the hour of service.
