CARL EDWARD IVEY
Carl Edward Ivey of Starkville, formerly Dukedom, Ky., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023 at the age of 98.
Carl was born July 30, 1925, in Vossburg, Miss. to father Carl D. Ivey and mother Birdie Merrill Ivey.
He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served in the Philippines and the Pacific during World War II.
He joined the Bell Telephone Company as a lineman and worked his way up to District Manager of the Southern MS area until retiring from South Central Bell in Picayune after more than 40 years.
He was active in the community, his church and the Rotary Club, being named Citizen of the Year for Picayune before he retired. He loved people and would engage everyone in conversations – especially about religion and politics.
He could fix anything and grow anything, spending hours in his workshops, green houses and gardens.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, the late Eula Mae Ivey of Picayune.
He was survived by his wife of 39 years Nina Easterling Ivey of Starkville, Miss., formerly of Dukedom; children Carl Ivey, Jr. (Paula – deceased) of Starkville; Debra Jo Ivey Walker (Don) of Chunky, Miss.; Lea Ivey Stone (Matt) of Pass Christian, Miss.; David Ivey (Tara) of Covington, La.; Lori Easterling of Madison, Miss.; and John Mark Ivey (Stacey) of Bowling Green, Ky.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carl’s life was celebrated with graveside services at New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11 a.m.

NINA WORLEY IVEY
Nina Worley Ivey of Starkville, Miss., formerly of Dukedom, Tenn., a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023 at the age of 83.
Nina was a school teacher in Carrier, Miss. and was involved in church activities at First Baptist Church in Picayune. Miss.
After returning to Kentucky to reside near her hometown of Fulton, she was actively involved in many clubs as well as church and school functions. She played piano and organ for Good Springs PC Church in Dukedom, Tenn. and worked on the kitchen committee. Having been a caterer, she excelled at planning big family get togethers, usually followed by a game of dominoes.
Nina was born Oct. 9 1940, in Fulton, Ky. to John Evan Worley and Laura Venita Worley, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 19 years, L.C. Easterling of Picayune, and by her second husband of 39 years, Carl Ivey , Sr., also of Picayune.
She is survived by sisters Gladys Worley Wall (James) of Martin, Tenn., Shirley Worley Edwards of Benton, Ky., and Helen Worley McGowan (Frank) of Troy, Tenn.; children Carl Ivey, Jr. (Paula - deceased) of Starkville, Debra Jo Ivey Walker (Don) of Chunky, Miss., Lea Ivey Stone (Matt) of Pass Christian, Miss., David Ivey (Tara) of Covington, La., Lori Easterling Rutland of Madison, Miss., and John Mark Ivey (Stacy) of Bowling Green, Ky.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nina’s life will be celebrated with graveside services at New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
