SFHS Lady Devils add to wins, against Lake Co., Union City

SFHS 77, Lake Co. 43

South Fulton’s “Miss Basketball” nominee Maddie Gray pumped in 19 points, followed closely by team mate Katie Barclay with 18, to claim a win against Lake County High School’s Lady Falcons Jan. 26.

Gray sank three baskets from 3-point range, hit four 2-point goals and was good on two of four trips to the free throw line.

Barclay connected on three 3-point scores, went two for three at the line and had two 2-point goals.

Abbi McFarland had 9 points for the Lady Devils, recording a perfect five for five at the line and adding in two 2-point buckets.

Lady Devils Journee Puckett and Anna Gore scored 7 points each, Puckett’s courtesy of a 3-pointer netted and two 2-point baskets, while Anna Gore also had a three, plus two 2’s and a free throw.

Addysen Wilson had 8 points for South Fulton, hitting four 2-point baskets, while Aubree Gore had a 2-point and a 3-point bucket, for 5 points, and Caroline Barclay sank a free throw for her point in the win.

Lake County’s Caren Johnson scored 14, from four 2’s, and finding success on 6 of 7 attempts at line and Lydasia Geanes had 9 points, from three 2-point goals and hitting three of four free throws.

The Lady Devils took control in the first quarter, 18-8, and pumped in 23 second-quarter points, while holding Lake County to 9, and securing a 41-17 advantage at the half time mark.

South Fulton scored 20 points in the third and 16 in the fourth quarter, to Lake County’s 12 and 14, respectively.

SFHS 59, UC 33

South Fulton High School’s Lady Red Devils added to their season’s win column, beating Union City’s Lady Tornados 59-33, Jan. 23.

Maddie Gray scored a game high 28 points on the night, sinking nine goals from the field, two of those from three-point range. She also hit two of eight free throws for the Lady Devils.

Anna Gore had 14 points for South Fulton, connecting on three of six trips to the line, hitting four 2-point baskets and a three.

South Fulton’s Katie Barclay sank two 3-point goals and was a perfect two for two at the free throw line, for her 8 points.

Lady Red Devils Aubree Gore, Addysen Wilson and Abbi McFarland each contributed 3 points in the win, Gore’s from a 2-point basket and a free throw, Wilson’s from three free throws and McFarland from a thee-point range connection.

Union City’s Sh’Nyla Moss had 10 points in the Lady Tornados’ loss, with her teammates Marlee Theobold and Blair McKinnis scoring 5 points a piece.

South Fulton outscored Union City 16-9 in the first quarter, added another 15 in the second and took a 31-15 advantage into the second half. The third and fourth quarters, the Lady Devils banked 14 points each round, and Union CIty scored 11 in the third and was held to 7 in the final quarter of play.
