FARMERS MARKET OPENING, FIRST TOURISM CONCERT SET FOR APRIL 20 IN FULTON

Fulton Tourism Commission has a big day planned for April 20, with the opening of the downtown Farmers Market and the first performance in the 2024 Free Summer Concert Series, by Darryl Van Leer.

From 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, at the Fulton Farmers Market, 300 Walnut St., family friendly free activities will be underway, including cooking demonstrations, an inflatable play area for children, butter churning demonstration and activity, Purchase District Health Department informational booth and Farmers Market Bucks available for children and youth, ages birth to 18, to spend with vendors at the Farmers Market.

Vendors may set up to sell merchandise as well.

At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, on the downtown Fulton Pontotoc Park stage, Darryl Van Leer will return for another performance, following his debut concert as part of the 2023 Tourism Summer Concert series.

Van Leer, who has ties to the Twin Cities through family, peforms a wide variety of selections from different genres, including MoTown, rock, pop and classics. He entertains from the stage, but also provides an interactive evening with the audience during his performances.

Those planning to attend the free concert may bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the performance.
