South Fulton’s Lady Devils were scoreless in their first round of play in the TSSAA State Softball Tournament May 21 against Oliver Springs, 5-0. The Lady Devils will now face off with Hollow Rock-Bruceton, who lost to Jo Byrns today, on Wed., May 22 at 11 a.m.
Maddie Gray pitched for 4 innings, and Caroline Barclay, 2, for the Lady Devils, with Gray striking out 3 batters and Barclay, 1. Gray allowed 5 runs and 3 hits.
Aubree Gore, Gray and Anna Claire Barnes recorded hits for South Fulton.
B. Thornton was the winning pitcher, striking out 4. Thornton, L. Alcorn and F. Christy all had hits for Oliver Springs.
South Fulton High School Lady Red Devils’ Softball Team defeated Middle College High School in Memphis May 20, 15-0, scoring 2 runs in the first inning, 9 in the second, 3 in the third and 1 in the fourth inning of play.
Caroline Barclay was on the mound for four innings, striking out 7 batters and giving up 2 hits.
Lady Devils Anna Gore, Aubree Gore, Maddie Gray, Abbi McFarland, Piper Lusk, Ivy Morris and Hadley Barnes all scored 2 runs each, and Lexie Lee scored 1.
Aubree Gore and Abbi McFarland were 3 for 4 at bat, Gray and Hadley Barnes, 2 for 3, and Piper Lusk was 2 for 4. Ivy Morris, Lexie Lee, Caroline Barclay and Anna Gore all had a hit to their credit. Lee had 3 RBIs, and #2 Gore and Gray had 2 each.
Middle College High’s Boles, a center fielder was 2 for 2 at bat. Payrle pitched four innings, giving up 16 hits and 15 runs.
The next stop for SFHS will be at the state tournament, where the Lady Devils and Coach Curt Lee, set to retire at the end of this school year, will stage a repeat of the SFHS Lady Devils’ basketball team appearance at the state level to end their season.
The Lady Devils begin play at the state level in the TSSAA Class 1A Girls State Softball Tournament at 2 p.m. May 21 against Oliver Springs. The winner of that game will compete against the winner of the May 21 game pitting Jo Byrns against Hollow Rock-Bruceton, for a May 22, 11 a.m. game.
South Fulton High School’s Lady Red Devils took a hard loss to Halls Lady Tigers May 15, 9-4, but stayed alive for a continuation of post season play as Regional Runner Up.

Maddie Gray, Piper Lusk, Lexie Lee, Anna Claire Barnes and Hadley Barnes all recorded hits for the Lady Devils, with Gray also having an RBI to her credit.
South Fulton’s runs were scored by Lusk, Lee, A. Barnes and H. Barnes.
Anna Gore had two RBIs.
Maddie Gray was on the mound for the Lady Devils for five innings, and Caroline Barclay, for one inning. Gray fanned 4, allowed 6 hits and 9 runs.
For Halls, C. Riddick pitched the full seven innings, striking out 4, and giving up the five hits and four runs.
M. Turnbow, C. Riddick, A. Brodie and A. Hardy had a hit for the Lady Tigers, and J. Cobb was two for three at bats.
Turnbow scored 3 runs and Cobb, 2.
