SFMS Lady Devils move on, Devils lose

On Jan. 26, the buses were loaded with South Fulton Middle School basketball teams as they were prepared to travel to Millington, Tenn. to compete in the West Tennessee middle school sectional tournament.

The Lady Red Devils played first at Woodstock Middle School versus Barrets Chapel. After four quarters of hard work and determination the Lady Red Devils finished the game on top with the final score of 38- 35.

The Lady Red Devils trailed the entire game until it mattered. The score was tied at 38 with 42 seconds left in the fourth quarter as Anna Gore came down the floor and shot the game winning three-point shot.

Makenna Naugle put up 15 points for the Lady Red Devils. Naugle hit six field goals and three out of the eight free throws she shot.

Tolesha Mason Contributed nine of the Lady Red Devils’ points, eight of which came from field goals and one from free throws.

Anna Gore score seven points which included two field goals and a game winning three-point basket.

Aubree Gore added three points. Aubree hit three of her six free throws and one field goal.

Addyson Wilson hit both of her free throws for her two points.

The Lady Red Devils hit nine of their 21 (43%) free throws.

The Red Devils played Aspire Hanley later that day.

The Red Devils fought hard, but couldn’t come out with a win. The Red Devils were defeated 49-31.

Zach Hannon scored 11 points for the Red Devils. Hannon hit five field goals and one free-throw.

Blake Rodehaver added 8 points from two field goals and four free-throws.

Dylan Ruddle contributed 7 points. Ruddle’s points came from a field goal, one three-point basket and two free-throws.

Avery Hill hit a three-point basket for his three points.

Conner Allen knocked down both of his free-throws for his two points.

The Red Devils were nine of 17 (53%) from the free throw line.

The Lady Red Devils are scheduled to play Jan. 30 at E. E. Jeter versus Ramer Elementary School starting at 6 p.m.
