Ice Storm ‘09 - 10 year anniversary marked as devastation, dedication remembered locally

MAN VERSUS ICE – In what could be termed the area’s most recent historically significant natural disaster, the ice storm which took place Jan. 26-28, 2009 tested the skills and dedication of linemen employed by numerous electrical systems, many of whom went days without sleep in attempts to counter the effects of layers of ice which resulted in snapped trees and power lines. This photo was taken in Hickman by Charlotte Smith, who was the Editor of The Hickman Courier at that time.
