FORMER TEACHER SENTENCED FORMER TEACHER SENTENCED

A former Fulton Independent School District teacher has pled guilty to a charge of aggravated statutory rape, a Class D Felony, and was sentenced May 5 in Obion County Circuit Court.

Katie Denise Lane was sentenced to three years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections, to serve six months, followed by two years and six months supervised probation, upon release from jail, according to the Judgement document obtained from the Obion County Circuit Court office.

 Further information in the document included special conditions of no contact with the victim and Lane's placement on the sex offenders registry. 

Lane had previously been indicted by the Obion County Grand Jury on charges of sexual battery by authority figure and statuory rape by an authority figure.  The charge of sexual battery by an authority figure was dismissed.

Lane was arrested June 12, 2024 at her South Fulton home, on charges of statutory rape by authority figure and sexual battery by authority figure.
Lane was previously a middle school teacher in the Fulton Independent School District, and was terminated, according to the personnel report listed in the Feb. 20, 2024 FISD Board of Education meeting packet.
