ELLEN MURPHY CHOSEN NEW SUPERINTENDENT OF FULTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Mrs. Ellen Murphy has been named the new superintendent of the Fulton County School District after the Fulton County  Board of Education met for a special called session on Wednesday evening at the Fulton County Schools Superintendent's Office in Hickman. She is 1993 graduate of Fulton County.  After high school she obtained BS and MA degrees from Murray State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.  She has been an educator for 25 years, 11 of those years serving as Principal of Fulton County High School.  Under her leadership, graduation rates increased, college and career ready initiatives strengthened, and partnerships with colleges and community partners flourished. In her new role as Superintendent, she is focused on providing opportunities for all students, building strong relationships across the district, and ensuring that the schools provide a safe, engaging learning environment.  Murphy said she is proud to be a Fulton County Pilot and is looking forward to continuing to build excellence within the Fulton County School District. She is married to Chuck Murphy, also a graduate of Fulton County, and they have two children, Hayden and Hannah, both graduates of Fulton County. (Photo Submitted)
