Area Obituaries - Alice "Marie" Fowler

Ms. Alice “Marie” Fowler, age 91, a resident of South Fulton, TN. passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, TN. Marie was born in Palmersville, TN, on September 4, 1933, to the late Clarence Audrey Alderdice and Estelle Shell Alderdice. Ms. Fowler raised her children in Chicago before moving to the Twin Cities of Fulton, KY., and South Fulton, TN, in 1992. Marie attended South Fulton Baptist Church and was married to the late Lynn Howard Fowler.
Ms. Marie was a very active volunteer during her life, from volunteering to serve food and minister to the homeless in soup kitchens while briefly living in Texas, to serving on The Fulton Tourism Commission, The Habitat for Humanity Board, The Banana Festival Committee and helping to organize the very first Relay for Life event in Fulton that benefited cancer research.
Over the years, Marie could be found working alongside her husband as the owners and operators of the former Lucky’s Restaurant in Fulton, KY. Later in her culinary career, she established Ms. Marie's Tea Room on Carr Street in Fulton, KY. At times, Marie could be found cooking for The Fulton Rotary Club and The Lions Club for their weekly meetings, all the while still finding time to cater for weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions in the area. Over the years, Marie and her husband taught many teenagers how to cook and establish a solid work ethic.
Marie leaves behind her grown children, Lynnita (James) Pierce of South Fulton, TN. Tony Fowler of Chicago, IL., and Sean (Erin) Fowler of Cleveland, OH, two grandchildren, Ewan and Murray Fowler of Cleveland, OH., and one sister, Louise Helms of Oklahoma City, OK.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Thomas Braden Fowler, and one brother, David Alderdice.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Fowler will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, KY. Dr. Ron Cox will officiate, and burial will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, TN, at a later date. Visitation for Ms. Marie Fowler will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 11th, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service.
