Railroaders win two in walk-off fashion

Fulton Railroaders took their home game Sun., July 20 in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Madisonville Miners at Lohaus Field. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the ninth when Jacob Lott doubled, scoring one run.
Ellis Hurt collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Hurt hit a solo home run to right field in the fourth inning, doubled in the eighth inning, and singled in the second inning.
The Miners were the first to get on the board in the first when Noah Berning grounded out, scoring one run.
Thomas Kuhn homered to right field, which helped the home team tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
A solo home run to right field by Hurt gave the Railroaders the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth.
Berning homered to right field, which helped the visitors tie the game at four in the top of the ninth.
Brady Davis earned the win for the Railroaders. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking none. Alex Fisher took the loss for the Miners. The hurler went one inning, surrendering one run on two hits, striking out two and walking none. Hayes Melville started the game for the Railroaders. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run over six innings, striking out 10 and walking three. Caden Wooldridge stepped on the bump first for the Miners. The lefty surrendered five hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. Blake Althuisius appeared in relief for the Railroaders.
The Railroaders piled up nine hits in the game. Hurt and Kuhn each collected three hits, and Shane Carnes, Lott, Caleb Warren, Hurt, and Kuhn each drove in one run for Fulton Railroaders.
Berning drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Miners with four runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. The Miners had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Pete Britton, Coulter Hamilton, and Justin Early led the team with two walks each. Nazhir Bergen stole two bases.
Hoptown 10, Fulton 9
The Railroaders fell to the Hoptown Hoppers 10-9 on Sat., July 19 at Christian County High School on the final play of the game. The host were down 9-8 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jordan Carter singled, scoring two runs.
The visitors collected nine hits and the Hoppers had 10 in the high-scoring affair.
The Railroaders got on the board in the top of the third inning after the Hoppers committed an error, Ellis Hurt singled down the left field line, and AJ Armstrong was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
The Hoppers turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Grady Broughton that drove in two.
The Railroaders would answer in the top of the eighth, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 9-6. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
The Hoppers took the lead, 10-9, in the bottom of the ninth thanks to singles by Eli Laurent, and Carter.
Troy Joslin started the game for the Railroaders, in which the right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking four. Robert (Thomas) Forehand led things off on the mound for the Hoppers. The pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two.

Fulton 8, Madisonville 7
The Railroaders took the game against Madisonville Wed., July 16 in dramatic fashion, with an 8-7 walk-off victory over the Miners at Lohaus Field. The host were down 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Shane Carnes doubled, scoring two runs.
The Railroaders rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-0 in the fifth.
The road team opened the scoring in the top of the fourth thanks to two doubles. The Miners first got on the board when Nazhir Bergen doubled, scoring one run.
The Railroaders scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to right field by Jadyn Perez.
Hayes Melville earned the win for Railroaders, surrendering one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Isaac Nieto took the loss for the Miners, going one and two-thirds innings, and giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Jordan Powell started the game for the Railroaders. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Ernesto Mendiondo stepped on the bump first for the Miners. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking four. Blake Althuisius appeared in relief for the Railroaders.
Perez and Carnes each drove in two runs for the Railroaders. Thomas Kuhn led the Railroaders with three hits in five at bats. The Railroaders had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Perez and Jacob Lott led the team with two walks each. Matthew Rienhardt and Lott each stole multiple bases for the Railroaders. The Railroaders ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game.

Coulter Hamilton went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Miners in hits. Cliff Wysinger and Logan Bailey each stole multiple bases for the Miners. The Miners stole eight bases in the game, and turned one double play in the game.
