AREA OBITUARIES – Sarah Hicks
August 25, 2025

Sarah Hicks, of Fulton, Ky. passed away Thurs., Aug. 21, 2025 at her residence. She was 41.
She was born in Cook County, Ill, on Jan. 14, 1984 to David and Juliana (Heckele) Hicks of Fulton, Ky.
She is survived by her three sons, Mason Parrish, Colin Parrish and Dylan Parrish, of South Fulton, Tenn., who knew she would be in the stands, or sitting in the bleachers for each baseball game, football game or basketball game. While she may not have served as a head coach for any of those sports programs, or the boys’ teams, she was known to offer her fair share of coaching from the sidelines, for her three favorite players. She enjoyed being at the family farm, especially the annual dove hunts, and was always willing and ready to cook up the boys’ harvest from a day of hunting. She provided a quick wit and lots of laughter to family gatherings and social settings.
While she was small in stature, her personality was big, and she was most often considered as being the “life of the party.” Sarah moved with her family to this area from Chicago, Ill. in 1993, and was a 2002 graduate of Graves County High School, where cheerleading was her passion.
She earned her degree, Associate of Applied Science, from Draughons Business College, and was employed at Jerry Ward Autoplex in Union City, Tenn., as well as Southern State, in South Fulton, Tenn. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Fulton, Ky.
In addition to her parents, and three sons, she is survived by her sister, Katherine (Wesley) Joyner, of South Fulton, Tenn.; her brother, James (Alex) Hicks, of South Fulton, Tenn.; her four nephews, Riley Joyner, Grant Joyner, James Gammon (J.G.) Hicks, and John Alex Hicks, of South Fulton, Tenn.; her niece, Katie Grace Joyner, of South Fulton, Tenn.; and her grandparents, Bill and Linda Darnell, of Fulton, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Juliana and Joseph Kovacs.
A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Tues., Aug. 26, 2025, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Fulton, Ky. with burial to follow in Water Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton, from 10 a.m. until time to leave for the church services.
