AREA OBITUARIES – Ruby Sharp

Ruby Sharp, age 96, of Fulton, Ky., went to be with her Lord and Savior Sun., Sept. 14, 2025 at 10:27 a.m. at the Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, Tenn., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 12, 1929, in Hickman, Ky., to the late Nathan Johnson, Sr and Ester Ballard Johnson.
Ruby was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was a very skilled seamstress and had made cheerleader uniforms for the local schools. Her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her children, June (Gerald) Scarbrough, of Union City, Tenn., Charlene Ellingburg, of Union City, Tenn., Barry (Shirley) Sharp, of Fulton, Ky., Kathy (Paul) Adams, of Union City, Tenn., Sandy (Bart) Goodman, of Hickman, Ky., and Bart Sharp, of Fulton, Ky., who she lovingly referred to as her “Good, Little Guy”; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Betty Corrine Castleman, of Clarksville, Tenn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bates Sharp, who she was married to for 72 years; two brothers, Nathan Johnson, Jr. and Harold Lynn Johnson; a sister, Rose Ann Tarkington; a grandson Brad Ellingburg; a great-granddaughter, Annelise Irene Sharp; and a son-in-law, Van Ellingburg.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tues., Sept. 16, 2025 in the Liberty Cemetery. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the hour of service. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, in Hickman, is in charge of arrangements.
The family of Mrs. Ruby Sharp wants to say a Thank You to the staff at the Obion County Nursing Home and the young women who have helped care for her and her Good Little Guy over the past years.
