AREA OBITUARIES – Ronald Duane Sikes

Ronald Duane Sikes, age 87, of Fulton, Ky., passed away on Sun., Sept. 28, 2025, at his residence. 
He was born on March 13, 1938, in Winfield, Texas, to the late Lowell M. and Mable Black Sikes. 
He was an electrician and Union Steward for the Kelly Springfield Tire Company/Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Tyler, Texas, for a total of 32 years. He served in the United States Navy for eight years and was a Vietnam Veteran.
He was a member of the Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge.
Duane and Andrea were avid travelers; he had a love for the mountains and water sports. At one time, he loved racing motorcycles and mountain bikes. He also had a strong interest in politics and anthropology.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Melton Sikes, to whom he was married on Nov. 21, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nev. He lived most of his life in Tyler, Texas, until he retired, then he and Andrea moved to the Bandera, Texas area. While in Bandera, he managed a ranch until 2018, when they moved to Fulton. 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Dan (Mary) Sikes, of Fulton, Ky., Jeff (Angie) Sikes, of Whitehouse, Texas, and Jerry Sikes, of Whitehouse, Texas; his father-in-law, Otis Melton, of Fulton, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Connie (Kirk) Vowell of Fulton, Ky.; an aunt and uncle, Larry (Katherine) Henderson, of South Fulton, Tenn.; and one nephew, Johnny (Morgan) Jamison, of Wingo, Ky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Sikes; one brother, Jerry Dan Sikes; and his mother-in-law, Mae Melton.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sun., Oct. 5, 2025 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Greenlea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
