2025 Pecan Festival kicks off Wed., schedule announced

The time has arrived for Hickman’s Pecan Festival with one event beginning Wed., Oct. 15 at the West Baptist Church and prayer service behind the Hickman Public Library.  The Hickman Chamber of Commerce will host a “Prayer on the Bluff” meeting with free hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks and music starting at 5 p.m. The food will be served until it is gone or when the prayer service is set to begin at 6 p.m. 
The full day of events, organized by the Hickman Recreation and Tourism commission, will kick off with the 9 a.m. 5K/3K Color Run, hosted by the Hickman Police Department on Sat., Oct. 18.
The cost will be $25 per runner and all proceeds will go towards the “Shop With A Cop” program. The starting locations will be at the old West Baptist Church lot on Broadway St. for the 5K and the 3K starting location will be Hickman City Hall.  Both runs will end at Jeff Green Park.
The vendors and music will start at 9 a.m. with an opening prayer, with Robert Goodman set to kick off the music from 9-10:30 a.m. The Liberty Boys will begin their set at 10:45 and wrap it up at 11:45 a.m.
The band Stronghold is scheduled to play from noon until 2 p.m, with Woody Woodruff to follow from 2:15 - 3:15 p.m.  Jay Black will take over from 3:15 -4:15 p.m.  The music of Scott Shell and Melissa McKelvey Parrish will finish off the day from 4:30 - 6 p.m. in the park. 
There will be something for everyone, including bounce houses and children’s activities but a large amount of vendors are expected for anyone trying to get a jump start on their holiday shopping. 
Commissioner John Wiley Gannon said the weather may  not cooperate with rain predicted for Saturday afternoon, but promised the event will go on, rain or shine and everyone is invited to attend.
