AREA OBITUARIES – Larry Don Connell

Larry Don Connell, age 80, of Fulton, Ky., passed away Sat., March 14, 2026 at the Diversicare of Martin, Tenn.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1945 in Martin, Tenn. to the late Charlie Bell Connell and Maggie Norene Carlton Connell.
Larry and his late wife, Janice, owned Dixieland Delight Ice Cream Truck that provided ice cream treats to kids and adults all over West Kentucky and West Tennessee. They could be heard from blocks away during the hot summertime, as they played The Ice Cream Truck Song that put a smile on many faces, including theirs. He was of the Baptist faith and lived all of his life in this area.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Finch of Union City, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 26 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Baxter Connell.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Rothman Connell, who passed away July 15, 2025; two daughters, Donna Dean and Cathy Hazlewood; two brothers, Thomas Carlton Connell and James Harold Connell; and three sisters, Margaret Connell Sanford, Bonnie Ruth Connell Cruce and Majorie Connell.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thurs., March 19, 2026 at the Oak Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the hour of service.
