Fulton Independent Board of Education approves motion to explore merger

On Wed., April 29, 2026, the Fulton Independent Board of Education, by majority vote, approved the initiation of a process to explore a potential merger with the Fulton County School District.
In accordance with KRS 160.041(1), the Board, or its executive officer, will formally convey this request to the Fulton County Board of Education. As required by statute, the Fulton County Board of Education will consider the request atits next regular meeting or at a special meeting held prior thereto.
The next step in the process will be for the Fulton County Board of Education to determine whether to accept or decline the request to pursue a merger.
At this time, no specific details, timelines, or procedures have been established.
If an agreement is reached, such matters will be determined at a later date.
