South Fulton Middle School rolls past Gleason, 14-3

South Fulton Middle School’s bats came alive Tues., Aug. 25 as the Lady Red Devils cruised to a 14-3 victory over the Gleason Junior High Lady Dawgs.
South Fulton wasted little time taking control, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. After the Lady Dawgs induced Paisley Allen to hit into a fielder’s choice, a run scored. Aniston Allen followed with a two-run single, while Kenedy Allen added an RBI single. Another run crossed the plate when the Lady Dawgs induced Reese Galloway to hit into a fielder’s choice.
The Lady Red Devils added five more runs in the second inning on four hits. Paisley Allen delivered an RBI single, Olivia Morehead followed with another run-scoring single, and Aniston Allen came through with a two-run single. Destinee Pettigrew capped the inning by drawing a bases-loaded walk to push another run across.
South Fulton continued to apply pressure throughout the game, finishing with eight hits and 11 walks. Aniston Allen, Paisley and Emma Hamrick each collected two hits, while all three also drove in two runs apiece. Aveyanna Johnson reached base three times via walks and helped spark the offense on the basepaths.
The Lady Red Devils stole seven bases, with Paisley and Johnson each swiping multiple bags. They also played a clean game defensively, committing no errors. Johnson led the team with six defensive plays.
In the circle, Paisley Allen turned in a solid five-inning performance, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking 10.
With the victory, South Fulton Middle School will return to action Mon., Aug. 31 against Hickman County Middle School.
