Big second inning leads Union City Middle School Lady Tornadoes past SFMS

The Union City Middle School Lady Tornadoes defeated South Fulton Middle School Lady Red Devils 13-1 on Tues., Sept. 8 thanks in part to 12 runs in the second inning.
TheLady Tornadoes opened the scoring in the first after Charlee S doubled, scoring one run.
The Lady Tornadoes scored 12 runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run, Adelina J tripled, scoring three runs, Elly Grace D tripled, scoring one run, Octavia H drew a walk, scoring one run, Charlie Belle C drew a walk, scoring one run, Trinity W was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Austyn D tripled, scoring four runs.
Austyn earned the win for theLady Tornadoes. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking five. Olivia Morehead took the loss for South Fulton Middle School. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, giving up 12 runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking seven.
Emma Hamrick paced South Fulton Middle School with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.
Austyn led theLady Tornadoes with five runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Charlee went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead UCMS Lady Tornadoes in hits. Adelina collected two hits for UCMS Lady Tornadoes in two at bats. Stellyn G paced UCMS Lady Tornadoes with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game.
The Lady Red Devils will host the Mayfield Lady Cardinals on Thurs., Sept. 10.
